Description

Property 192186 – Val d’Orcia - Tuscany

5 Bedrooms – Pool

Location and Surrounding Area. Property 192186 is a stunning, 300 year-old Tuscan property with extensive views and 12 hectares of magnificent woodland in the glorious Val d'Orcia, which is within easy reach of many of the marvels that Tuscany has to offer. It's only a short drive to the wonders of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Renaissance town of Pienza and home of arguably the finest wine producing area in Italy. There are also shops selling high-quality farm products and local restaurants within a five minute drive.

Montepulciano is a stunning hilltop Renaissance town and the Cantucci family, for example, has been creating fine wines since the 1700s and is considered one of the founding fathers of the exceptional red wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Another sought-after red wine, the Brunello di Montalcino, has been produced in the hills around Montalcino since the early 14th century, partly due to the fact that Montalcino has the warmest and driest climate in Tuscany.

This same mild climate means that golfers can play all year round on some of Italy's most seductive golf courses. The prestigious 18-hole Golf dell'Ugolino, for example, is the oldest Golf club in Italy. It even features in Chris Santella's best-selling book, “Fifty places to play golf before you die”. The Castiglion del Bosco golf course has 18 holes and was designed by Tom Weiskopf, winner of the British Open. It boasts an unparalleled playing experience and is Italy's only Golf Club to be set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Perugia is an enchanting university city famous for its art, culture, summer jazz festival and chocolate! Perugia was home to the painter Pietro Vannuci, known as Perugino and teacher to Raphael the great Renaissance artist. Vannuci's frescoes still decorate the Sala del Cambio and there are various paintings in the National Gallery of Umbria in Perugia.

Property 192186 is about an hour and a half from Florence international airport and two hours from Rome Fiumicino international airport. The towns of Montalcino, San Quirico, Pienza and Montepulciano are all within 30 minutes and Perugia, Siena and Assisi are about an hour away. Castiglion del Bosco Golf Club is 40 minutes away and Golf dell'Ugolino is about an hour.

The Property. Property 192186 sleeps up to ten guests in five magnificent double bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom. Two of the bedrooms are in the main building, one is in the tower and has a private entrance and a small terrace and the remaining two are in the annexe. Each room is charmingly decorated in individual style with splashes of colour and wood beamed ceilings.

The ground floor offers a gorgeous living room with a traditional Tuscan open fire, perfect for cozy chats accompanied by a glass or two of fine wine. The dining room easily seats 16 guests and also has a romantic fireplace. The dining room has French windows leading to the outdoor dining area, which also accommodates 16 diners and has magnificent views across the valley. The study houses an extra single sofa bed for an extra guest and has its own en suite bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and features another gorgeous open fireplace. There is also a useful pantry area and a utility room containing a double-door fridge, ice maker, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.

Perhaps the highlight of your stay here will be the beauty of outdoor living at Property 192186. There is an enormous terrace for al fresco meals, which has its own barbecue area and overlooks the 30 acres of private parkland. The panoramic swimming pool is heated by solar panels but there is also a boiler for cloudy days. And not only that, there is even a solar-heated hot tub, which faces the valley and guarantees sublime evening watching the sun set behind the hills across the valley. The organic vegetable garden is available for guests to use.
