Description

Property 191952 – Marina di Pescoluse - Apulia

4 Bedrooms – Swimming Pool

Location and Surrounding AreaLocated in one of the most appreciated areas in Southern Apulia, just a few kilometers from the glorious coast, this exceptional white-washed masseria is ideally situated to offer complete relaxation and privacy to its guests, providing an opulent escape for those who want to explore this exclusive area. Famous for its whitewashed towns, excellent food, dramatic coastal cliffs and beautiful beaches, this area of Southern Apulia features all the ingredients for the perfect vacation.

Santa Maria di Leuca is on the southernmost tip of the Salento peninsular. The name Leuca comes from the Greek “leukos” for white, after the white cliffs in the area. Here you can watch the sun rise over the eastern Adriatic Sea and then watch it set across the western Ionian waters. The coastline varies from high and rocky with secluded sandy coves to long stretches of golden sand. Inland, you'll find pretty dry-stone walled lanes winding through ancient olive groves and unexpected white washed villages steeped in tradition.

In just thirty-five minutes by car, you can reach Gallipoli, whose name means “beautiful city”. The port has established it as a maritime town for centuries and it still has an active fishing trade. It was a trade port with ties to Orient, as seen in some decorations and touches around the town. The elegant old center hints at its once important past. The beaches are known throughout Italy as some of the cleanest around, with colorful rows of umbrellas and bright seafront bars and restaurants decorating them in the summer.

The property is less than one hour from Nardò. Like much of Salento, Nardò is a gourmet heaven and there are few tourists, wild beaches, clear seas and acre upon acre of olive trees. During the 16th century, the city was the cultural capital of Salento thanks to the Acquaviva family, dukes of Nardò. The heart of the city is the baroque Piazza Salandra, with several civic and religious landmarks, such as the Guglia dell’Immacolata, standing in the middle of the square and built in 1769.

Porto Selvaggio is a fantastic natural oasis lapped by the uncontaminated waters of the Ionian Sea. This area offers both timeless villages and sandy coves worthy of a refreshing swim. The turquoise waters in the sheltered cove at Porto Badisco make for safe swimming and excellent snorkeling. According to Virgil, Porto Badisco was the site of Aeneas’s first landing in Italy after his escape from Troy but some historians dispute the fact and suggest the Roman harbor of Castro instead.

Porto Cesareo sits on a prestigious part of the Ionian coast, enjoying a long stretch of beach and sparkling clean seas. The popular seaside resort has an amazing 17 km of golden beach facing an archipelago of low-lying islands that form a protected bay. The water is calm and clear. Porto Cesareo is also the home of a nature preserve that is a marine protected area rich in flora and fauna with very rare species. Underwater excursions allow for viewing of the unique coral formations, turtles, sea horses, and other marine life.
