Lucca has often been voted one of the world's most desirable cities to live in or visit. It is perhaps most famous for its thick, 16th century ramparts which encircle the city and were restored in the 19th century to create a wide, tree-lined walkway. You can walk or cycle on top of the walls and glimpse the wonders of the town within. There are pretty cobbled streets, ancient piazzas, gorgeous churches, glorious renaissance buildings, markets and countless local restaurants, bars and trattorias. Lucca was the birthplace of the Italian opera maestro, Giacomo Puccini and the town often hosts international opera as well as classical music events and rock concerts.

Florence is the capital city of Tuscany and an art-lovers paradise. It was the centre of the Italian Renaissance movement and the museums, galleries, palaces and churches house some of the world's greatest artistic treasures. The cathedral, baptistery, Uffizi, Bargello, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens and the Accademia have to been seen and once you tire of art and history, take a wander through the pretty streets and across the Ponte Vecchio bridge which spans the River Arno. Florence is also home to designer shopping and fine wine and dining experiences. Thick, juicy Florentine steaks are a local speciality and best accompanied by a delicious, local Chianti wine.

The Property. Property 189612 is a magnificent 18th century villa set in 50 acres of olive groves, woodland and gardens with a spectacular swimming pool, floodlit tennis court and American pool table. The villa was designed by the celebrated Lucchese architect Lorenzo Nottolini and it has been beautifully restored in the style of an English country manor house and offers various accommodation options for guests.

The main house is spread over four floors and has 12 enormous double bedrooms, 10 of which have en suite bathrooms while the other two share a bathroom. The master bedroom has a double Jacuzzi bath and windows with a breathtaking view of the sunsets over the church.

The formal dining room features frescoes and three crystal chandeliers. The immense dining table can comfortably seat up to 40 guests. There is also a smaller family dining room with seating for six people for more intimate meals. The large living room is exquisitely furnished with elegance. The old limonaia (lemon store) has been ingeniously restored to create a vast, professional kitchen fitted with every conceivable convenience. A second kitchen, TV room, card room, laundry room and two halls complete the ground floor. The delightful adjoining chapel  is fully consecrated and houses a grand piano which makes for truly splendid wedding ceremonies.

The sound proofed recreation area in the basement offers plenty of space for dancing, an American pool table, a games room, a cinema and an office.

The second residence was once a farmhouse and is one of the oldest houses in the area. It offers five big double bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom and another bedroom containing three large, single beds, which are ideal for children. There is also a lovely living room with open fireplace, fully fitted kitchen with traditional AGA cooker and AGA fridge. The dining room and kitchen doors open out onto the large terrace and gardens which are ideally placed to enjoy cocktails or dinner with fabulous views across to the village and Apuan Alps in the distance. This villa has direct access to the swimming pool and tennis court and the two ground floor bedrooms are ideal for visitors who wish to avoid stairs.

The adjacent old coach house sleeps a further six people.
